Asian Development Bank (ADB) – Japan Scholarship Program (JSP)
- The Asian Development Bank/Japan Scholarship Program (JSP) offers about 150 postgraduate scholarships a year for studies in economics, management, science and technology, and other development-related fields at participating academic institutions.
- The scholarship provides full tuition fees, a monthly allowance for expenses, housing, books and instructional materials, medical insurance and travel. For scholars engaged in research, a special grant may be available for thesis preparation. In special circumstances, computer literacy, preparatory language and other similar courses may be covered under the scholarship.

Australia Awards Scholarships are long term development awards administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

They aim to contribute to the long term development needs of Australia’s partner countries in line with bilateral and regional agreements.

They provide opportunities for people from developing countries, particularly those countries located in the Indo-Pacific region, to undertake full time undergraduate or postgraduate study at participating Australian universities and Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions.
Chinese Government Scholarship
- Chinese Government Scholarship program is established by the Ministry of Education of P.R. China (hereinafter referred to as MOE) in accordance with educational exchange agreements or understandings reached between Chinese government and governments of other countries, organizations, education institutions and relevant international organizations to provide both full scholarships and partial scholarships to international students and scholars.
- MOE entrusts China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as CSC) to manage the recruitment and carry out the routine management of Chinese Government Scholarship Programs.
Beijing, China – Scholarship for ALL levels
- The Beijing Government Scholarship (BGS) was established by Beijing Municipal Government, aiming to provide tuition fees fully or partially to the international students studying or applying for studying in Beijing. Its administrative office is the International Cooperation and Exchange Office of Beijing Municipal Commission of Educations, which is in charge of project establishment, review, acceptance and daily management of the Beijing Government Scholarship Program. The international students applying for the Beijing Government Scholarships shall normally submit relevant materials to the universities in Beijing that he/she hope to apply by the end of February every year.
Shanghai, China – Government Scholarship
- Type A, as a full scholarship, covers tuition, basic learning material, accommodation; it provides insurance for major diseases and accidents; living allowance is offered monthly:1700 RMB for master student and 2000 RMB for PHD student. It is awarded to applicants for masters and above. The numbers to be awarded is 10 each year.
- Type B is semi-scholarship, including tuition, basic learning material and accommodation. It will be awarded to applicants for masters and above. The numbers to be awarded is 6 each year.
- The Graduate Student Scholarships, supported by the Chinese Scholarship Council(CSC), are provided for prospective international students to study for Master or Doctoral Degrees in top universities in China thus to expand student exchanges and academic collaborations between Chinese Universities and their overseas partnership institutions.
- China Agricultural University(CAU) is among the list of the top universities supported by CSC to directly recruit the scholarship students from the academic year
Czech Government Scholarships – Developing Countries
- Scholarship Awards within the Foreign Development Assistance Programme – offer for the academic year 2010/2011
- The Government of the Czech Republic offers a number of scholarships within the framework of its Foreign Development Assistance Programme in support of the study of foreign nationals from developing countries at public institutions of higher education in the Czech Republic.
Commonwealth Shared Scholarships Scheme
- The Shared Scholarship Scheme is a joint initiative between the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (with funding from DFID), and UK universities, to support scholarships for students from developing Commonwealth countries who would not otherwise be able to study in the United Kingdom.

- Who is eligible?
Applicants should:
- be nationals of (or permanently domiciled in) a Commonwealth developing country, and not currently be living or studying in a developed country (please see the booklet for a list of eligible countries)
- hold a first degree at either first or upper second class level;
- be sufficiently fluent in English to pursue the course
- have not previously studied for one year or more in a developed country
- not be employed by a government department (at national level) or a parastatal organisation (employees of universities are normally acceptable, however)
- be able to confirm in writing that neither they or their families would otherwise be able to pay for the proposed course of study
- be willing to confirm that they will return to their home country as soon as their period of study is complete
Denmark Government Scholarship
- Several Danish schools offer scholarship for Africans and other undergraduates from other non-EU countries given that they are:
- citizens from countries outside EU and EEA,
- enrolled in a full degree higher education programme and
- granted a time-limited residence permit in Denmark to study.
Germany – DAAD Scholarship Programme
- Postgraduate courses for young professionals from developing countries at German institutions of Higher education
- Duration: 12-24 months, depending on the particular institution
- Internationally recognised Master degree
- Includes German Universities and “Fachhochschulen” (Universities of Applied Science)
- Support of selected programmes with a variety of full or partial scholarships

Undergraduate Greece Government Scholarships for Foreign Students
- Scholarships granted by the Greek Government to foreign nationals for academic year 2013-2014 and for Greek language and civilization summer seminar 2013
- Finnish polytechnics and universities do not charge any tuition fees in their Bachelor’s degree programmes, or Doctoral level studies. Several Master’s programmes do not charge a tuition fee, either.
- However, some Master’ programmes may have tuition fees for non-EU/EEA nationals. You need to check the tuition fee policy at the institution offering the Master’s programme.
Japanese Government Undergraduate Scholarships
- MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) offers scholarships to international students who wish to study at Japanese universities as undergraduate students under the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Program
Joint Japan/ World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP)
- is in its 22nd year. The Program awards scholarships to individuals from World Bank member countries to undertake graduate studies at universities renowned for their development research and teaching. In its Regular Program, the JJ/WBGSP has awarded scholarships to 2,894 scholars chosen from a total of 56,361 applicants.
- The Regular Program is open to the universities all over the world. Scholars awarded scholarships receive their training and graduated degree from more than 150 Universities in more than 30 countries. Scholars study in well-known Universities in the World Bank member countries, except their own country. The Regular Program creates high level of competition among applicants, where thousands apply and compete for a limited number of scholarships.
Korea – Graduate Scholarship Program

Mexican Government Scholarships for International Students
- For decades, the Mexican cultural diplomacy has worked in different successful programs, such as the human capital training through scholarships for academic degrees awarding and research work performing in different areas of knowledge.
New Zealand Development Scholarships (NZDS)
- scheme offers the opportunity to people from selected developing countries to undertake development-related studies in New Zealand.
- This may include study related to education, health, rural livelihoods, governance, human rights, or economic development, depending on the human resource development training needs of the home government.
- New Zealand -Development Scholarships are offered for full-time, tertiary level study at participating New Zealand education institutions.
- Most Norwegian institutions have various bilateral agreements with foreign institutions of higher education. These agreements are usually designed for the mutual exchange of students, researchers and teachers. However, there are national programmes that offer scholarships and other types of funding for international students wishing to study in Norway. Certain restrictions and prerequisites apply for all these programmes. In addition, there are various stipends available offered by private and non-profit organisations.
Russia – Scholarships for Undergraduate, Graduate, and Doctorate degrees
- In order to assist foreign countries in training national employees, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation allocates public scholarships for the academic year 2012/2013 to allow foreign citizens and Russians living abroad to study at federal state higher professional education institutions at the expense of federal budget allocations in bachelor, specialist, master degree and post-graduate programs as well as additional professional education programs (internship or professional development).
Slovak Republic – Scholarships of the Government
- The provision of the SR Government scholarships is a long-term part of SR development aid, which is a programme and project activity of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the SR within the framework of the international community
Switzerland – Government Scholarships
- The Swiss Government awards a range of scholarships to foreign students through the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS): university scholarships (Swiss universities and Federal Institutes of Technology), arts scholarships (schools of music and fine arts) and scholarships for universities of applied sciences (UAS).
- These scholarships provide graduates from all fields with the opportunity to pursue postgraduate studies or research in Switzerland at a public funded university or recognized institution.
Turkey, Republic of – Government Scholarships
- If there is no special note in bilateral agreements; Turkish Government offers scholarships for Undergraduate and Graduate (Master/PhD) studies, as well as for Research and Turkish Language Summer Courses under the following conditions:
- Scholarship notifications are announced through diplomatic channels. Candidates should apply to the authorized bodies of their own countries or to the Turkish Embassies/Consulates in their respective countries.
