President’s International Scholarship of Excellence
Scholarship Overview
- The President’s International Scholarship of Excellence is awarded to international high school applicants who are starting their first year of a four-year undergraduate program at York University.
- These applicants must demonstrate commitment to volunteer work and extracurricular activities, academic excellence, and leadership skills.
- Graduates of this scholarship program are referred to as “President’s International Scholars”.

What does the scholarship cover?
- $45,000 for the first year of study, renewable for each year of study, coming to a total of $180,000 for the 4 years.
- Note that you must complete a minimum of 24 credits each Fall/Winter session with a minimum GPA of 6.0 for that session to qualify for renewal of the scholarship.

To apply for this scholarship, you must:
- Be an international student who is required to have a study permit to study in Canada.
- Have applied to an undergraduate degree program in York that begins in Fall 2023.
- Have applied to York University directly from high school no more than 2 years after graduating from high school.
- Have an excellent academic record with a minimum 80% (A) average or its equivalent.
- Not have pursued college or university studies previously.
- Be committed to volunteer work and extracurricular activities.
- Demonstrate leadership skills.
- Be an international fee-paying student.
- Have received admission to an undergraduate program at York University.
How Do I Apply – Next Steps
- Application for the scholarship is done online via the online application form.
- You are required to complete the application before the submission deadline.
- The application form should have the following supporting documents:
- A personal statement from the applicant (500 words or less)
- A financial profile
- 2 letters of recommendation (one should be academic)
