Williams College – 100% of financial needs met for International Students

  • Williams College is a private liberal arts college in Williamstown, Massachusetts. It is the first college in the country to eliminate loans as well as required campus and summer jobs from all of its financial aid packages.
  • This college has one of the most generous financial aid programs in the country, with more than half of all the students receiving financial aid from the college.

Scholarship Overview

  • Williams admits U.S. students without regard to their ability to pay. The college meets 100 percent of every admitted student’s demonstrated financial need for four years.
  • The college meets 100 percent of demonstrated need, with no loans or work-study expectations.
  • Also, though Williams is not need-blind for international applicants, almost 66 percent of international students receive financial aid from the college. International aid awards average $66,200 annually.

To qualify for financial aid, you must present the following:

Required Application Materials

  • School Report
  • Counselor Recommendation
  • Two Teacher Recommendations
  • Mid-Year Report (Due February 8 or for schools on a trimester, when 2nd trimester grades are available)
  • $65 Application Fee or Fee Waiver 
  • Early Decision Agreement Form (Early Decision applicants only)
  • Williams Writing Question (Describing a time when you learned or grew through the process of interacting with someone whose background, identity, lived experience, or perspective differs from your own in 150-300 words.)

Optional Application Materials

1. SAT or ACT results – If you decide to submit an SAT or ACT score, you can do so in any of three ways:

  • Enter them in the testing section of your application
  • Email a screenshot of your score report to applicationmaterials?@williams?.edu.
  • Have them sent to Williams directly from the testing agency. The Williams SAT code is 3965 and the ACT code is 1936.

2. Additional Writing Supplement – Students are welcome to submit an academic paper completed in the last year.

3. Studio/Performing Arts Portfolio – If you have a well-developed talent in the visual or performing arts, you can submit it for review by the faculty.

4. Scientific Research Abstracts – If you’ve pursued significant scientific or mathematics research and are considering a research or academic career, you can submit a brief description of your past work. Make sure you include this information in your application.
