Ashland University
- The International Presidential Scholarship is awarded to students who are entering Ashland University as first-year students (freshmen). The amount of the scholarship is determined by the grade point average of the last four years of education. The amount of the scholarship can be enhanced if the student submits official results of the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).
- The International Director’s Scholarship is based on the student’s grade point average of the last four years of education.
- The International Transfer Scholarship is awarded to students who have studied for at least 15 semester hours at an accredited school of higher education. This scholarship is designed for transfer students, second degree, and non-degree student who are enrolled full time in an academic program at Ashland University. The amount of the scholarship is based on the cumulative grade point average (GPA) obtained before entering Ashland University.
- International students may qualify for academic or financial need based scholarships/grants. Academic scholarships are determined by previous academic record and results on the SAT examination. International student grants are awarded to students demonstrating the financial ability to pay for only a portion of the expected costs of attendance. The maximum amount of scholarship and/or international student grant awarded will be one-half the cost of tuition.
Brandeis University – Wien International Scholarship
- Established in 1958 to support international students at Brandeis. Today a small number of need-based full scholarships are awarded to outstanding students in a worldwide competition; a package of scholarship, work and loan can cover the full cost of education at Brandeis. Wien Scholarship packages of scholarship, work and loan are also awarded to very strong candidates who have demonstrated need for only part of educational costs at.
College of Saint Catherine – International Student Scholarship
- 1,000 – 12,000 per year while enrolled full time
- This scholarship is awarded to female, undergraduate students enrolled in the day program. Scholarships are based primarily on academic achievement and financial need.
- Scholarships are applied to tuition, room and board if the student lives at the college.
- Most International Student Scholarships are based on the student taking four classes per semester and living on-campus. Scholarships will be reduced if a student takes fewer classes or lives off campus.

College of Saint Elizabeth – International Student Scholarship – Women’s College
- Each fall semester, the Women’s College awards two full scholarships covering tuition, room and board. Those selected for these highly competitive scholarships must prove that they can cover all remaining costs including transportation, books, insurance, personal expenses, etc.
- Only international students who are applying as full-time, first year students in the Women’s College are eligible for these full scholarships.
- All scholarships are renewable for a maximum of four years provided that the student maintains a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- All scholarship applicants are required to submit documents and test scores, including TOEFL and SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test), in advance of the March 1 deadline. Only students who have taken the SAT and have a confirmed score over 1150 are encouraged to apply if they need a full tuition scholarship.
- Women’s College Scholarship Application Deadlines. The scholarship application deadline is March 1 for Fall Semester scholarships; and November 1 for Spring Semester scholarships. (Please note: These are not the deadlines for admission to the College, but only for scholarship applications. The College of Saint Elizabeth has a rolling admissions deadline.)
Hiram College – Global Scholarships
- International applicants are eligible for merit-based global scholarships. These scholarships are competitive, range from $3,000 to $21,000 per year, and are renewable annually for up to four years of study. There is no need to apply for them as candidates are chosen during the decision process and the awards are given with the admission decision. To be considered, a completed application for admission must be received no later than February 1. There is no separate scholarship application. The application for admission serves for both.
- The admission and scholarship committees evaluate each student’s file in its entirety. This review includes academic preparation and performance, standardized test scores, class rank, teacher recommendations, and personal essay, with the strongest emphasis placed on academic performance. Scholarship recipients are notified in February and March.
Iowa State University – International Student Ambassador Scholarships
- International Student Ambassador Scholarships are awarded to students with exceptional leadership qualities and a desire to positively represent both their home country and Iowa State University to prospective students.
Miami University (OH) – Undergraduate Students
- Provides a limited number of merit-based scholarships called International Education Scholarships. These renewable scholarship awards (available only to degree candidates in F-1 or J-1 status) range in values up to $10,000 per year. Since the number of scholarship awards is limited, students should have achieved outstanding academic records and competitive test scores to be considered. Although financial need is not considered in the awarding of these merit-based financial awards, the International Education Scholarships do enable many international students with modest financial need to attend and graduate from Miami University.
Mary Baldwin
- offers merit-based scholarships to international students. The scholarships range from $5,000- $13,000 and are based on TOEFL or SAT scores and past academic achievement. We do not have work-study programs, assistantships, or need-based financial aid. The merit scholarship is renewable each year. At the present time, this is the only form of financial aid available.
- has a strong scholarship program for international students. Scholarships are based on merit, as determined by school records and/or test scores, and extracurricular activities. To apply for a scholarship, an applicant must first submit all required documents listed on the requirements page, and an essay describing their academic goals, their reasons for choosing Maryville College, and their reasons for feeling they deserve or need scholarship funding. Our scholarships range from $2,000 to $16,000 per academic year. All scholarship funds are credited toward tuition payments:
- $2,000: MC Scots International Award.
- $8,000 to $13,000: MC Scholars. Available to students with strong academic achievement (above 3.0 on 4.0 scale)
- $17,000: Dean’s Scholarship: Superior academic achievement (3.25 on 4.0 scale) and a strong record of extracurricular activities.
- Full tuition: Presidential Scholarship: Superior academic achievement (3.5 on 4. 0 scale), a strong record of extracurricular activities, and SAT score over 1200. Deadline for International Presidential Scholarship application is January 15. THIS AWARD IS EXTREMELY COMPETITIVE.
Monterey Institute of International Studies – MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS
- A limited number of partial-tuition, merit-based scholarships are offered to prospective students applying to degree programs at the Monterey Institute. All admitted applicants will be automatically considered for a Monterey Institute scholarship. A separate application is not required.
- Scholarship amounts range from $4,000 to $14,000. However, funds do run out, so you are encouraged to apply early for optimal scholarship consideration. As such, please ensure that your complete application, supporting documentation and US $50 application fee are submitted to the Admissions Office.
Oregon State University – International Cultural Service Program (ICSP)
- A select number of academically meritorious foreign students who have a demonstrated financial need, speak English clearly, and are prepared to share information about their country and culture serve on the International Cultural Service Program (ICSP) at Oregon State University. Students receive a partial tuition remission scholarship in exchange for discussing daily life; speaking on issues of development; giving slide presentations; sharing music, handcrafts, and folk stories; and translating foreign languages. Students address groups of all ages but mostly visit elementary, middle, and high schools. The service requirement is eighty hours per academic year or twenty-seven hours per term. When applying to the ICSP, students must have adequate funds for tuition, fees, health insurance, books, room and board, and other living expenses. An ICSP tuition award (approximately $10,000) would reduce the required total.
Roger Williams University
- International Presidential Excellence Scholarship $16,000 per year. Number of awards given are limited. Minimum GPA required for consideration-3.2. For New Freshmen (1st year students)
- International Achievement Scholarship – $10,000 – 13,000 per year. Number of awards given depends upon applicant pool – Minimum GPA required for consideration-2.8 – For New Freshmen and Transfer students
Smith College – STRIDE Scholarships
- The STRIDE program offers students with outstanding academic and personal qualifications a close working relationship with a faculty member during their first two years at Smith College. This scholarship of $5000 per year for four years is awarded to approximately 35-40 students per year. In addition to the scholarship, students are also given an annual stipend of $1700 per year for two years that is linked to research with faculty members.
The State University of New York at Potsdam
- SUNY Potsdam wants to continue its goal of recruiting a strong international population. Our Canadian and International Student Initiative helps us to do just that. All undergraduate international students enrolling full-time at SUNY Potsdam receive a grant to help offset their cost of attendance. This grant is worth $8,220 in U.S. funds and is renewable for up to four years of full-time undergraduate study provided the student lives on campus and participates in the 19-meal-per-week plan.
Sweet Briar College – Academic (merit-based) Scholarships
- Academic (merit-based) Scholarships up to $15,000 are awarded on a competitive basis to qualified international candidates who are applying as first-year or transfer students. No separate application form is needed – applicants will be automatically considered for merit scholarships based on the application for admission. These scholarships are renewable annually according to the academic requirements stated at time of award.
University of Bridgeport – International Undergraduate Scholarship
- The Undergraduate International Scholarships are offered to encourage academic excellence and student leadership and to continue UB’s tradition of enrolling a “Community of Scholars” from around the world. The scholarships are available to both freshman (first year applicants) and transfer students seeking an associate or a bachelor degree. All awards are renewable yearly based on satisfactory academic achievement and good standing at the University. All undergraduate applicants are considered for these scholarship awards once all application materials are received by the specified deadlines below. Please note that the University of Bridgeport does not offer any full scholarships. Students who receive partial scholarships will have to pay the remaining costs, which are not covered by their scholarships, upon their arrival to the University.
- Academic scholarships range from $5,000 to $12,000 USD per academic year, and are based on academic excellence AND English proficiency.
- International Merit Scholarships are offered to selected first-year and transfer undergraduate international applicants. International Merit Scholarships range between $5,000 and $25,000 (U.S.) per year.
- The University of Dayton does not require international applicants to submit ACT or SAT scores for admission or a limited scholarship review. However, applicants are welcome to submit ACT or SAT scores, as good scores may increase scholarship awards.
University of Iowa – National Scholars Award
- Offers several scholarships to outstanding international first-year students. For entering nonresident and international first-year students who have a UI Admission Index Score of 129 or above. If your high school does not rank, you will be considered for the award based on your ACT composite score and your high school GPA. Eligible students are considered automatically upon admission. Value: $12,080 ($3,020 a year for up to four years).
- All international students can qualify for and compete for any merit-based scholarships. Applicants for financial assistance must have a complete file on record by February 1 and present outstanding academic records, high standardized test scores, and strong letters of recommendation. Since the number of scholarships is limited and our applicant pool is large and talented, only a few of the qualified applicants will be offered an award. These awards are won through competition and are renewable for four years provided the student maintains standard academic progress.
- Need-based awards are also available; however, NO AWARD PACKAGE WILL COVER ALL EXPENSES. A typical financial aid package may consist of a combination of an offer of campus employment, loans, and a very limited number of grants in addition to any merit-based scholarships that may be awarded. International students must be aware that an aid award will not cover travel expenses, summer maintenance, and personal expenses.
Wartburg College – The Loret Ruppe International Student Scholarship
- The scholarship program honors the late Loret Miller Ruppe, former director of the Peace Corps and U.S. Ambassador to Norway. Guidelines Upon meeting admission requirements, international students may be awarded scholarships ranging from $1,000 up to $20,000.
Washington College – Colin Ferguson Grants
- Awarded to entering international full-time students on the basis of scholastic and extracurricular achievement and overall promise for success in a collegiate environment. Awards generally range in amount from $2,500 to $10,000; a cumulative grade point average of 2.0-4.0 is required for renewal.
Wooster
- has limited funds available, in the form of partial scholarships and grants, to assist international students. Wooster’s financial aid policy allows for a maximum award of 50% of our comprehensive fee to be granted to qualified applicants. The average total financial aid award of international students accepted to the Class of 2009 was $19,031. Wooster is able to provide several sources of financial aid to international students. These include grants, scholarships and work opportunities.
- Wooster Grants – These grants are awarded by our Office of Financial Aid based on need and academic credentials. Grants do not have to be repaid.
- Merit Scholarships – Students may be invited to compete for academic merit scholarships based on the academic credentials they submit upon application.
- Campus Employment – A campus job allocation is often included as part of the financial aid award. This money is earned by working on campus. Unlike scholarships and grants, a campus job does not reduce the amount you must pay the College for tuition, room, and board.

The country suffers from epidemic poverty under the face of luck of social protection like safety nets and, slow economic growth, the currently rising inflection, structural rigidities in the real sector with low and inefficient investment, underdeveloped financial sector with foreign banking and capital account restriction, insufficient foreign exchange high indebtedness and the luck of good governance and high corruption are the major problem to be tackled.
Therefore, am ambitious to get ride of this problem and I believe that this bachelor program is very essential to me to contribute my share in Information technology development and software engineer growth to cope with this all problems by applying the knowledge experience and skills that are directly relevant especially in the area of stabilizing financial industry of the county as I have already started my carrier as junior IT worker in the registrar of the Jimma University of Ethiopia.
