- The Government of Mauritius is awarding scholarships to deserving students who are resident citizens of member states of the African Union or African Commonwealth countries to pursue higher studies in a registered public Higher Education Institution (HEI) in Mauritius.

Am I Eligible to Apply?
To qualify for this scholarship, you must:
- be above 18 years of age and not have reached your 26th birthday by 01 January 2026;
- have already applied for a full-time on-campus program (Diploma, Degree, MPhil or PhD) at a public Higher Education Institution in Mauritius for the academic year starting in 2025;
- be a resident citizen of a member state of the African Union or African Commonwealth countries;
- have successfully completed end-of-secondary schooling and satisfied the minimum grade requirements as follows: (i) at least 21 points at GCE or HSC A-Level computed on the basis of the following grades obtained in three Principal subjects: A+=10, A=9, B=8, C=7 & D=6; OR (ii) at least an overall average of 60% or an overall average of 12/20; OR (iii) a qualification equivalent to (i) or (ii) above;
- provide a valid TOEFL test result with a minimum score of 550 (paper based), 213 (computer based), or 79 (internet based), or valid IELTS test results with a minimum score of 5.5 or an acceptable proof of English Language proficiency, if the language of instruction in the qualifying examination is not English.
How do I Apply – Next Steps
- Scholarship applications can only be made on the application form which is obtained from the website.
- Each application is made solely through the nominating agency responsible for processing scholarships in the applicant’s country of citizenship. This Nominating Agency completes and endorses the application form.
- The Nominating Agency then shortlists and endorses the applications of a maximum of FIFTEEN (15) eligible candidates and submits the duly completed application forms to the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology of the Republic of Mauritius at the address indicated on the website below for the final selection.
NOTE:
- A Nominating Agency is usually part of the Ministry of Education in the country of the applicant. It must ensure that the applicants meet all eligibility criteria and that all applications are complete prior to submission to the Mauritian Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology.
