AGSP has supported 1,200 girls in 26 schools in South Sudan. During December 2005, a raid by the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) cause the evacuation of all CARE staff from their compound in Maridi. At that time, AGSP was providing support to 1,200 girls in 20 Community Girls’ Schools. The raid and subsequent evacuation suspended support for the AGSP in South Sudan. Opportunities for future AGSP activities in South Sudan are being explored.
