FOR South Sudan SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS
- EVE – Empowering Village Education. A project which provides supports for children in over 100 primary schools in Southern Sudan.
Ambassadors Girls’ Scholarship Program (AGSP)
- An NGOs working in the South Sudan, CARE was selected as an AGSP implementing partner because they already had the Sudan Basic Education Program (SBEP) under way with USAID funding and other partners. AGSP has supported 1,200 girls in 26 schools in South Sudan. During December 2005, a raid by the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) cause the evacuation of all CARE staff from their compound in Maridi. At that time, AGSP was providing support to 1,200 girls in 20 Community Girls’ Schools. The raid and subsequent evacuation suspended support for the AGSP in South Sudan. Opportunities for future AGSP activities in South Sudan are being explored.
