Nigeria Scholarships – Undergraduate

Agip Scholarship

  • Nigerian Agip Oil Company Limited (NAOC) Joint Venture in pursuance of its Community Development Programme invites suitably qualified candidates for its 2012 Tertiary Institutions Scholarship Awards Scheme for Nigeria Scholarships

Gani Fawehinmi Scholarship Award

Applications are invited for Chief Gani Fawehinmi Annual Nigerian Scholarship Awards 2012

  • Applicants must be poor and indigent
  • Applicants must be registered students of Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria. i.e Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education.
  • Applicants must have good academic performance.

Sweden Scholarships – Full Scholarships to study at the Graduate and Undergraduate Level.

The Swedish Institute Study Scholarships target highly-qualified students.

  • About 120 scholarships will be awarded for studies in Sweden, starting in August 2012.
  • The scholarship covers both living costs and tuition fees.
  • Travel grants – Scholarship holders will receive a travel grant in connection with the scholarship. The travel grant is a one-time payment of SEK 10.000.

York University  – Global Leader of Tomorrow Award

  • $60,000 – ($15,000 x 4 years)
  • Highest academic average
  • Nomination by high school
  • Leadership and demonstrated skills
  • To renew – must have a high academic standing (7.80 on a 9-point York scale) in each academic year at York
  • Deadline: March 1

Nigeria Management Scholarships 2012

  • We are pleased to offer Nigeria Management Scholarships to Nigerian undergraduate students starting their studies in the Management School in September 2012. The scholarships are worth £1,500 per year each

Nigeria Merit Undergraduate Scholarships 2012

  • There are two Nigeria Merit Undergraduate Scholarships available for Nigerian students starting their undergraduate degree studies in September 2012. The scholarships are worth £6,500 of your undergraduate course tuition fee per year. This will take the form of a tuition fee reduction.

Australian Development Scholarship Program (ADS)

  • Scholarships provided through the Australia Awards program play an important role in fostering and sustaining friendship and cooperation between Australia and developing countries. These awards are a central part of the Australian Government’s development cooperation program in Africa. By providing people with the knowledge and the skills to promote development in their home country, the program aims to contribute to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals in Africa while promoting Australia as an active partner in African development.

Eni Scholarships St Antony’s College, University of Oxford

  • in partnership with the international integrated energy company Eni, is offering three students from Angola, Nigeria and Ghana the opportunity to study for a fully funded Master’s degree in 2013-14.
  • This will allow St Antony’s to admit some of the best African students irrespective of means and will add immeasurably to the diverse and intellectual character of the College. This is part of a joint initiative between Eni & St Antony’s College to invest in and strengthen African leadership.
  • St Antony’s and Eni are equally keen to provide encouragement and where possible, structured incentives for Eni Scholars to continue their studies or find useful employment back in their home country after graduating from Oxford. Discussions about this are ongoing and scholars will be informed of relevant contacts and partnerships as they emerge. 

London Business School Sloan MSc

  • Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust – African Scholarship
  • Funded by: Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust.
  • Open to: all successful applicants who are African nationals, and reside in Africa.
  • Award: £10,000.

Dorothy Hodgkin Postgraduate Awards (DHPA)

  •  is a UK scheme to bring outstanding students from India, China, Hong Kong, South Africa, Brazil, Russia and the developing world to come and study for PhDs in top rated UK research facilities.

MBA Scholarships

INSEAD Freddy Salem Scholarship(s)

  • Candidates for the INSEAD scholarships will need to demonstrate: (a) academic achievement and promise (b) aptitude for business and financial management, and (c) a strong likelihood of spending the better part of their working careers in West Africa. In awarding these scholarships, INSEAD shall particularly seek candidates from Nigeria, Ghana, Togo and Benin.
  • Eligibility: Candidates must be nationals from a West Africa country (preferably Nigeria, Ghana, Togo and Benin) and will have spent most of their lives and received most or part of their education in Africa. Preference will be given to candidates who require proven financial assistance.

POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS – PH.D. FELLOWSHIPS and Scholarships for Nigerian Students

The Wadsworth African Fellowships

  • The Wadsworth African Fellowships of the Wenner-Gren Foundation are intended to provide support for African students undertaking study leading to a Ph.D. at a South African university that can provide them with international-level training in anthropology (including biological anthropology and archaeology). Currently Nigeria Scholarships 2012 applications to the University of Witwatersrand or The University of Cape Town are given priority. The Wenner-Gren Foundation has other fellowships/grants for international students. The Wenner-Gren Foundation for Anthropological Research, Inc. is a private operating Foundation that is dedicated to the advancement of anthropology throughout the world. Through programs of funding for research projects, conferences, symposia, fellowships, and publication, the Foundation aids basic research in all branches of anthropology and closely related disciplines concerned with human origins, development and variation.

Aga Khan Foundation

  • The Aga Khan Foundation provides a limited number of Nigeria Scholarships each year for postgraduate studies to outstanding students from developing countries who have no other means of financing their studies. Scholarships are awarded on a 50% grant : 50% loan basis through a competitive application process once a year in June or July.

Malaria Capacity Development Consortium (MCDC) – PhD Programme

  • The MCDC PhD programme offers support to candidates of high academic caliber who can demonstrate a strong commitment to research relevant to the prevention or control of malaria. A rigorous procedure was used to select the most able African students to pursue PhD studies based in the African countries participating in the programme – Ghana, Malawi, Senegal, Tanzania, and Uganda. 18 PhD students have been selected to enjoy Africa Scholarships, and each allocated to one of the five African partner universities.

University of Bath – Steve Huckvale Scholarships

  • The Steve Huckvale Scholarships are available for international students born in an African country to study a postgraduate taught programme in the field of Engineering or Management. Among others, it also offers Nigeria Scholarships for 2012. The purpose of this prestigious award is to assist an international candidate with academic merit and leadership potential to study at the University. There are two Steve Huckvale scholarships available for applicants to a taught master’s degree. One scholarship is for courses within the School of Management, and one is for the School of Engineering and Design. Each scholarship is worth £5000 and is open to international applicants born in an African country.

African Graduate PH.D.Fellowship

  • The African Graduate Fellowship is a competitive fellowship program to grant Nigeria Scholarships for bright, highly motivated African students interested in pursuing a master’s degree at the American University in Cairo (AUC).  Each year, fellowships are offered to nationals of African countries (not including Egyptians) for full-time study (9 credits or more) in any of the graduate programs offered at AUC.

African Humanities Program (AHP)

  • African Humanities Program (AHP) of the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) seeks to revitalize the humanities in Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda through fellowship competitions and meetings associated with them. The AHP, which offers Nigeria Scholarships for 2012, is funded by the Carnegie Corporation of New York.

Loughborough University Graduate School Development Trust Africa Scholarships

  • The Loughborough University Graduate School Development Trust Africa Scholarships full-fee scholarships for international full-time taught postgraduate students who are currently domiciled (permanently living) in Africa. These will be known as the Loughborough University Graduate School Development Trust Africa Scholarships. Among others, the university offers Nigeria Scholarships for 2012 that will cover 100% of the course fees for your chosen postgraduate taught course for one year.
