    Hi there!

I am a Kenyan lady aged 47years and a Master graduate from Kenyatta University in Special Needs in Education.
Currently i am teacher trainer in special needs education.

As a graduate with a diploma in education(Kiswahili, Geography &Physical Education), I was employed by the Teachers Service Commission and posted to teach in a High School for students with visual impairments. I experienced a lot of challenges without prior experience in reading braille codes in both Kiswahili and English languages. My students were my major source of aspiration and i desired to give them my best so that they could be included in the society academically, socially and spiritually, gain access to job opportunities or further education as acceptable members of the society.

I experimented on different teaching strategies as well as training them on public speaking, games and sports. I trained as an examiner with Kenya National Examination Council in the area of Fasihi ya Kiswahili (Kiswahili Literature). Presentation of pictorial information, diagrams, graphs and colors in geography posted a major challenge. Despite all the effort, i and the students put, i was not satisfied with the outcome. I therefore needed to know where i was not doing well.

When Kenyatta University initiated the first Bachelor degree program in Special Needs Education, i applied and was admitted in the second intake. I graduated was posted back to the same school, this time armed with professional knowledge in this area. Four years down the line, i went back to Kenyatta University for a two year Master degree in Special Needs Education. Due to fees challenges, after finishing the first year course work, i took a break raise funds for my research. I was then posted to Kenya Institute of Special Education as a teacher trainer.

In the year 2006 June/August, i joined University of Oslo Summer School on a three months Scholarship, Certificate in Special Needs Education and Professional Studies. I scored a mean grade of an A. In 2007/08, i managed to raise fees and finish my research at Kenyatta University where i graduated with a Master Degree.

My application for PhD admission on a full Scholarship to the University of Oslo has been rejected for two consequent years reason being that i do not meet their requirements The Kenya two year Master Degree course is not acceptable at Oslo University. I feel so demoralized! The faculty of Education Oslo University advised me to apply to NOKUT for my Certification to be recognized. After sending all the required Certificates and testimonials to NOKUT, there has not being any communication all.

I need someone to advice me and assist me to get a scholarship to pursue a PhD in Special Needs Education.

I am a Ugandan citizen currently enrolled at Makerere University (Arts faculty, Department of Philosophy) as PhD student provisionally, already completed and successfully passed the “Synopsis”. I have also submitted my PhD research proposal whose topic is: THE ETHICS OF JUST WAR PARADIGM INFORMED BY A PRAXEOLOGY OF PEACE: “A Study of Just War Tradition in Light of Michael Walzer.” I will focus on the underlying aspect of just wat theory namely the search for positive peace especially in Africa, particularly in East Africa and the Great Lakes region: Uganda, Rwanda, Congo, Burundi, Kenya and Tanzania. I will be defending the proposal very soon after which the next step would be official enrollement as full time PhD student researcher. I am writing this note to inquire about the possibility of finantial assistance or even any other possible support in the order of completing this study project.

    Please advise or help accordingly.
    Thanks.
    Sincerely Deogratias Biabandi
