I have just finished my Undergraduate Bachelor’s Degree in Education at Mzuzu University Malawi. I am looking for scholarship to pursue my studies at masters level of study in Rural and Community Development. I come from the rural village setting where development is not yet accessed. As the only lady who has emerged successful in my studies,I know my role to the community where I come from, thus to bring in development.

    DEAR…………………………………………………………………..
My name is CHUMO JOHN KIPLIMO, a Kenyan citizen by birth aged 26 years. I am currently in 4th year of my studies in Moi university (Chepkoilel university collage) taking Bachelor of Education Science (Physics/Mathematics). I am due to finish my 4th year on 27/04/2012 and thereafter graduate in November the same year. My aggregate mean for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year is 60.5 % or simply grade B in the British grading system which is an equivalent of G.P.A of 3.1 on a 4.0 American rating system.
I have a great and a burning desire to pursue a masters degree in physics (in the field of nuclear and atomic physics or solar energy physics) immediately I finish my forth year but the lack of finance to see me through in this dream that I have make my hope dimmer and dimmer. Therefore I humbly request that you consider me for this scholarship.

Why I want to study in the above mentioned fields.
In 1996, only 8% of the Kenyan population got access to electricity, majority residing in urban areas. Though there have been efforts by the Kenyan government to harness the available energy resources; solar energy, hydro power and geothermal power, this percentage has remained nearly constant considering that the population of the country has been increasing at a faster rate.
If Kenya has to attain its vision 2030 economic blue print, then focus must be shifted into production of enough electricity to drive the large and small scale industries which happens to be the basis for attaining this economic growth.
No country in the world has ever developed reasonably by relaying on renewable sources of energy only. For Kenya to develop there is need to adapt nuclear energy for mass production of electricity. Though it is an expensive venture, having its own citizen as trained nuclear power engineers will make it affordable for Kenya.
Having in mind the Kenya lies in the equator and receives sufficiently enough sun’s radiation; the use of solar energy can by a great scale supplement the electricity supply. This technology has not been fully utilized due to lack of trained manpower-though Kenya is in a good position of using it.
With global warming threaten the existence of man on earth, Kenya cannot continue to relay on bio-fuel(firewood) and paraffin as a source of light and heat for cooking. These products releases greenhouse gases which fuel global warming.
I thus belief that my studies in either of these two fields, will have a positive impact on the development of my country in the near future.
