Updated Information on How to Get A Medical Scholarship and the Latest Scholarships

These scholarships are very competitive, requiring you to have a good academic record, a strong application and to have done thorough research before you make your application. Below is some important information to consider concerning medical scholarships 2023-2024.

How to increase your chances of getting a medical scholarship

  1. Get information on available scholarships.
  • Look out for scholarships offered by universities, government organizations, professional organizations, and private institutions. Once you identify a few that you would like to apply for, check the eligibility criteria such as academic merit, financial need, and areas of study.
  1. Meet the eligibility criteria
  • From the scholarships you have selected, look at the eligibility criteria closely and ensure that you meet all of them before proceeding with the application process.
  1. Maintain a strong academic record
  • Nothing pleases selection committees for medical scholarships more than a great academic record. Good grades usually indicate that you are committed to excelling once you begin your studies.
  1. Prepare your application materials
  • The scholarship information sheet will indicate what documents your need for the application. Ensure that you have all the documents and application materials required well before the application deadline.
  1. Obtain letters of recommendation
  • Get letters of recommendation from people who know you well and can attest to your abilities, like healthcare professionals and mentors.
  1. Get involved in extra-curricular activities
  • Scholarship selection committees always look out for involvement in extra-curricular activities. The activities you get involved in should be related to medicine or healthcare, like volunteering in hospitals and local clinics and participating in medical camps and community service projects.
  1. Apply for multiple scholarships
  • When searching for a medical scholarship, identify more than one that you qualify for and then apply for all of them. This will increase your chances of being selected for at least one of them.
  1. Submit your application on time
  • Once you select a scholarship, take note of the application deadline so that you can prepare your application and send it in before the deadline.
  1. Prepare for the scholarship interviews
  • Once you submit your application, look at the interview requirements for each scholarship. Some scholarships may not require an interview, but those that do will require that you prepare in advance so that you know exactly what is required.

My names are Kennedy Okoth Oduor.Am a Kenyan citizen aged 18 years seeking full scholarship to study medicine.I passed very well my high school national exams last year (oct-nov 2010)-obtained a mean of grade A- (minus). I come from a poor background. Lost my father when I was less than a year old. My mother is aged and therefore not employed. Its not possible for me to be admitted for medicine in Kenya since it is a course preserved for the rich class because of the high tuition cost and limited funding from the government.

Joining the university for any course other than medicine will be a great demotivation towards higher learning because my childhood dream has been, and still remains becoming a medical doctor. The only thing that now stands between me and my patiently awaited dream is lack of funding. This, i believe, with full scholarship, will cease to be an impediment along my path towards my goal.

Therefore i humbly request for full scholarship in medicine.

I hope someone is listening and will soon rush for my rescue.

Tahaks in advance. I can be reached on kenokoth@ymail.com
