The McMaster University Scholarships 2024 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada are a range of fully funded and partial scholarships for international students who want to pursue undergraduate programs at McMaster University. What does the scholarship cover?

The McMaster University Scholarships 2024 in Hamilton Canada offer various levels of financial support for international students who want to pursue undergraduate programs in different faculties at McMaster University. The scholarships are either renewable or one-time awards, and they cover full or partial tuition fees, living expenses, or housing costs. The scholarships are as follows:

  • Degroote School of Business Scholarships: These scholarships are for international students enrolled full-time in any undergraduate program within the Degroote School of Business. There are three scholarship programs:
    • Global Business Scholar I Award: This is a renewable award of $32,500 ($10,000 for first year and $7,500 each year thereafter).
    • Global Business Scholar II Award: This is a renewable award of $25,000 ($10,000 for first year and $5,000 each year thereafter).
    • Dean’s Global Excellence Award: This is a renewable award of $210,000 ($50,000 per year plus $10,000 in level 1 for housing).
  • Faculty of Engineering Scholarships: These scholarships are for international students enrolled full-time in any undergraduate program within the Faculty of Engineering. There are four scholarship programs:
    • Global Dean’s Excellence Award: This is a renewable award of $30,000 ($7,500 per year).
    • Engineering International Entrance Award: This is a one-time award of $10,000.
    • iBioMed International Entrance Award: This is a one-time award of $10,000 for the iBioMed program.
    • Engineering a Brighter Future Award of Excellence: This is a renewable award of $100,000 ($25,000 per year).
  • Faculty of Humanities Global Excellence Award: This is a renewable award of $25,000 ($10,000 in level 1 and $5,000 in levels 2-4) for international students enrolled full-time in any undergraduate program within the Faculty of Humanities.

How many scholarships are given?

The number of scholarships varies each year depending on the availability of funds and the quality of applicants. However, McMaster invests over a million dollars annually in scholarships for international students.

Which countries are targeted? The scholarships are open to international students from all countries who meet the eligibility criteria.

Am I Eligible to Apply?

To be eligible to apply for the scholarships, you must:

  • Be an international student who requires a study permit to study in Canada.
  • Have applied or be applying to a full-time undergraduate engineering program at McMaster University for the 2024/2025 academic year.
  • Have an outstanding academic record, with a minimum admission average of 90% or equivalent.
  • Have demonstrated leadership skills, community involvement, extracurricular activities, or other achievements.
  • Meet the English language proficiency requirements of McMaster University.

How do I Apply

Next Steps To apply for the scholarships, you must:

  • Complete and submit the online application form for undergraduate admission to McMaster University through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) by January 15, 2024.
  • Activate your MacID and log in to AwardSpring, McMaster’s online scholarship and bursary platform, using the Barcode and Student (Person) ID Number in your Acknowledgement letter.
  • Fill out the General Application on AwardSpring, which asks for important information to match you with awards for which you’re eligible.
  • Complete the follow-ups for each scholarship program, which may include essays, referrals, or other criteria.
  • Submit your application and supporting documents by February 14, 2024.

Selection Criteria

The selection criteria for the scholarships are based on:

  • Academic excellence, as evidenced by grades, transcripts, awards, or other academic achievements.
  • Leadership potential, as demonstrated by involvement in school, community, or extracurricular activities, or other examples of initiative, creativity, or innovation.
  • Fit with the chosen program and McMaster’s vision, as expressed by the applicant’s interest, motivation, goals, or aspirations.

Required Documents

The required documents for the scholarships may include:

  • Official high school transcripts or equivalent, showing all grades and courses taken.
  • Proof of English language proficiency, such as TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, or Duolingo scores.
  • Letters of recommendation from teachers, mentors, or community leaders who can attest to the applicant’s academic and personal qualities.
  • Personal statement or essay, addressing the specific questions or prompts for each scholarship program.
  • Resume or curriculum vitae, highlighting the applicant’s education, work experience, skills, achievements, or awards.
  • Other documents as requested by the scholarship program or McMaster University.
