• The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) aims to attract the best and brightest students from all over the world to pursue their PhD studies in Hong Kong’s universities.
• These PhD Fellowships offer research opportunities in a broad range of PhD programs, a competitive annual stipend, and excellent support to international students for up to three years.

• Applicants may choose up to two programs at one or two universities for PhD study from the fields listed below.
  • Sciences, Medicine, Engineering and Technology
  • Humanities, Social Sciences and Business Studies

What does the scholarship cover?

• An annual stipend of HK$331,200 (approximately US$42,460).
• A conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$13,800 (approximately US$1,760) per year for each awardee for a period of up to three years.

How many scholarships are given?

• 300 PhD Fellowships will be awarded in the 2024/25 academic year.

To qualify for this scholarship, you must:

• Be an international student.
• Have a master’s degree from a recognized university.
• Be a new full-time PhD student.
• Comply with the admission requirements of your selected university and program.
