    Dear/ Madam,
I am a 2009 graduate from Fourah Bay College University of Sierra Leone. I studied Mechanical & Maintenance Engineering and currently I am working as an Engineer at the National Power Authority in Sierra Leone.

Since I started I noticed that the company has incurred huge losses as a result of poor maintenance practices. However this was not a surprise to me because 99% of the operational staffs running the engines are not trained Engineers from the university. Additionally also, the current network of transmission and distribution needs to be completely overhauled. There are several underground and overhead faults in the system as a result of poor maintenance practices and this has led to the poor utilization of the total power output. This has also cost the company lots of money in hiring experts to get the system fixed up. As an Engineer I want to ensure that the running conditions of the Power Plants are not only met but also strict measures taken to observe all maintenance procedures. Alas, I am not fully equipped for this kind of task. In this regard, I would like to pursue a Masters/Doctorate program in Power Engineering in the United States of America to enhance my ability to carryout such a great assignment in my country, Sierra Leone.

My communication skills are excellent and amidst many other strengths I have very strong computer background. If only I am given this opportunity I will be very much grateful and my country will be forever indebted to the American government.

I am looking forward to hearing from you soon with regards my qualification and abilities
