  • Brown University, under the Brown Promise initiative, has replaced loans with scholarships in all its undergraduate aid packages, making this university more affordable for students and their families.

Scholarship Overview

  • Brown University meets the full cost of demonstrated financial needs for all international undergraduate applicants. It is need-blind for first-year international undergraduate applicants who are applying to enter in the fall of 2025.
  • This financial aid program includes more than one type of financial aid, i.e. University Scholarship, student/campus employment, or federal and state grants.

Am I Eligible to Apply?

To qualify for this scholarship, you must:

  • provide financial information via the CSS Profile for all applicants and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizen applicants.
  • provide foreign income and tax documentation;
  • provide accurate information on the marital status of parents, number of dependents, number of children in the household pursuing an undergraduate education, unusual medical expenses, federal, state and local taxes, and any other information required;
  • meet the requirements for an undergraduate degree program at Brown University.

How do I Apply – Next Steps

  • You must submit all the financial aid application materials required for the need-based financial aid program by the deadline. These include the CSS Profile and FAFSA application.
  • After this, you will receive a financial aid offer letter containing:
    • An estimate of direct and indirect costs for the academic year (except health insurance).
    • An estimate of the Expected Family Contribution (EFC).
    • An overview of all financial aid offered.
