Scholarship Overview
- Australia Awards aim to promote knowledge, education links and enduring ties between Australia and our neighbours through Australia’s extensive scholarship programs.
- The initiative aims to build a new generation of global leaders with strong links to Australia.
- Australia Awards are the flagship of the Australian development cooperation program and are an important component of Australia’s investment in education. They offer long- and short-term study and professional development opportunities to citizens from developing countries around the globe. They aim to provide enhanced leadership, knowledge and technical skills to partner governments, tertiary institutions and strategic organisations that are driving sustainable development.
Scholarships have been an important component of the Australian Government’s efforts to reduce poverty and achieve sustainable development since the 1950s.
They aim to:- develop capacity and leadership skills so that recipients can contribute to development in their home countries
- build people-to-people linkages at the individual, institutional and country levels.
In Africa, the Australian Government offers scholarships and fellowships under Australia Awards for African professionals to undertake long-term studies leading to a postgraduate degree and short-term training leading to the acquisition of new skills and knowledge.

dear sir/madam , first i would like to thank and appreciate your this wonderful work, which is so decisive for present and future generation. it is only if we acquire basic and necessary education and skills that we can live a decent life in this world and win over many evils including this devastating poverty. we the Africans are so behind in acquiring quality education for various reasons and our next generation is also facing the same. the so called educated individuals so far couldn’t contribute that much for the socioeconomic development of nations. i think this is mainly because of the absence of quality education provision system and less or unavailability of higher education and research institutes with capacity and facility to equip students with the requisite knowledge ad skills to change these destitute people. if I’m not wrong, i hope your institution really provides a type of education which changes the student and as well the society. it is my innate demand to learn farther education in any fields of social science specially in leadership, management, public policy and entrepreneurship. therefore, please I urge you to make my dreams comes to reality, by admitting and giving me an opportunity to learn in your this distinguished university. faith fully yours!!
