What does the scholarship cover?
- The fellowship award amounts are as follows:
- Master’s/first professional degree: $20,000
- Doctoral: $25,000
- Postdoctoral: $50,000

- Travel to professional meetings, conferences, or seminars that do not exceed 10% of the fellowship total.

Am I Eligible to Apply?
To qualify for this scholarship, you must:
- Be a citizen of a country other than the US or have a non-immigrant visa if residing in the U.S.
- Have an academic degree that is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree, earned in the U.S. or abroad. This degree must be completed by November 15, 2022.
- Be prepared to devote yourself fully to the proposed academic plan set out for the fellowship year.
- Intend to return to your home country to pursue a professional career once you complete your studies.
- Be proficient in English and demonstrate this proficiency by submitting up-to-date results of an English proficiency exam.
- Have applied to or be already enrolled in an accredited institution of study for the fellowship year. The name of this institution should be indicated in the fellowship application.
- If you are a Postdoctoral applicant, you must show proof of your doctorate, hold a doctorate classified as a research degree or an M.F.A. by November 15, 2022. You must also indicate where you will conduct your research.

Required Documents
- Recommendations: Provide three recommendations from professors or professional colleagues well acquainted with you, your work, and your academic background, in striving towards scholarly pursuits.
- Documents:
- Proof of highest degree: The highest degree must be at least a bachelor’s degree (must be earned on or before November 15, 2022). Transcripts should be provided.
- Transcripts that include a list of courses taken and grades received.
- An official letter from the institution where the degree was received that includes the degree completion date if the institution does not provide transcripts.
- Proof of current enrollment (currently enrolled applicants only): Upload transcripts/lists of courses/institution letters from the college or university in which you are currently enrolled.
- Proof of a doctorate or M.F.A. degree (postdoctoral applicants only):
- Proof of English proficiency: Upload an official report of an acceptable and valid TOEFL or IELTS score. Minimum acceptable scores are as follows:
- TOEFL iBT (Internet-Based Test): 79
- TOEFL Essentials: 8.5
- Revised TOEFL Paper-Delivered Test: 60
- IELTS: 6.5
- A written statement verifying the applicant’s native language is English.
- Academic transcript or diploma confirming that your secondary school diploma or undergraduate degree is from an English-speaking institution or that one semester of full-time study in your discipline was at an English-speaking institution between November 2020 and November 2022.
NOTE:
- A certified English translation is required for all documents provided in a foreign language. Translations must bear a mark of certification or official signature that the translation is true and complete.
- All transcripts provided must include the applicant’s full name, the school’s name, all courses, and all grades, as well as any other information requested in the application instructions.
