York University offers a variety of financial support programs to recognize student accomplishments in all forms, including leadership, determination, and resilience.

Scholarship Overview

  • The President’s International Scholarship of Excellence is awarded to international high school applicants entering their first year of a four-year undergraduate degree program at York University.
  • These applicants should demonstrate academic excellence, commitment to volunteer work and extracurricular activities, and leadership skills.
  • The recipients of this scholarship are referred to as “President’s International Scholars.”

What does the scholarship cover?

  • Each award is valued at $180,000 ($45,000 x 4 years).

NOTE:

  • This scholarship is renewable for an additional three years of full-time study or until degree completion (whichever comes first) provided the recipient completes a minimum of 24 credits each Fall/Winter session with a minimum sessional grade point average of 6.0.

Am I Eligible to Apply?

To qualify for these scholarships, you must:

  • Have a minimum 80% (A) final admission average or its equivalent.
  • Have international immigration status.
  • Have applied for and been accepted for an undergraduate degree program.
  • Be a first-year applicant for an undergraduate degree.
  • Be enrolled as a full-time student.
  • Maintain good academic standing each year.
  • Demonstrate commitment to volunteer work and extracurricular activities.
  • Show leadership skills.

NOTE:

  • Financial need may also be considered in the selection process.

  • Application is done via the online application form on the website.
  • This application form consists of:
    • A personal statement from the application (not more than 3000 characters)A financial profile
    • A letter of reference
    • A list of volunteer experiences and activities
