Top 10 Scholarships in Zambia for 2017-2018

Below is a list of the top graduate scholarships available for international students.

  1. Danish Government Scholarships
  • The Danish Government gives a limited number of scholarships to Danish higher education institutions to fund the education of highly qualified degree students from non-EU/EEA countries.
  • The higher education institutions, who individually decide which students are selected to receive a scholarship, administer the scholarships.
  • To qualify, one must be a citizen of a country outside the EU or the EEA, enrolled in a full degree higher education program, and have a time-limited Danish residence permit (due to education).
  1. Eiffel Masters Scholarships in France
  • The Eiffel Scholarships were established to enable French higher educational institutions to attract outstanding foreign students interested in Masters and PhD courses.
  • The areas of study covered by the Eiffel scholarships include: engineering sciences at Master level, sciences in a broader sense for PhD level (engineering sciences, exact sciences such as mathematics, physics, chemistry and life sciences, Nano- and biotechnology, earth and environmental sciences and information and communication sciences and technology), economics and management and law and political science.
  • Eiffel scholarship holders receive a monthly grant allowance of €1,181 (at the current applicable rate). In addition, the program covers various expenses including return travel, health insurance, and cultural activities. Scholarship holders also benefit from an additional accommodation allowance.
  • These great scholarships help to shape future foreign decision-makers in the public and private sector.
  1. Chinese Government Scholarships
  • These scholarships were established by the Ministry of Education of P.R. China to provide both full scholarships and partial scholarships to international students and scholars for study and research in Chinese Universities.
  • The academic programs that fall under this scholarship include science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, economics, education, legal studies and many others.

The Value of each scholarship consists of

  • Exemption from registration fee, tuition fee, laboratory experiment fees, internship fee, and cost of basic learning materials;
  • Free accommodation on campus;
  • Living allowance;
  • One-off settlement subsidy after registration;
  • Fee for outpatient medical service, Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Benefit Plan for International Students in China;
  • One-off subsidy for inter-city travel;
  • Monthly stipend of CNY 3000 for Masters students and CNY 3500 for PhD students.
  1. Korean Government Scholarship Program
  • This scholarship is designed to provide higher education in Korea for international students, with the aim of promoting international exchange in education, as well as mutual friendship amongst the participating countries.
  • The program supports future global leaders by inviting talented international students to Korea for an opportunity to further their studies at Korean higher educational institutions.
  • Applications are submitted at Korean embassies worldwide and partnering universities within Korea.

Here is a brief summary of what the scholarship includes:

  • Airfare: Round-trip economy class ticket.
  • Monthly Allowance: 900,000 won (KRW) per month.
  • Research Allowance: 210,000 won for scholars in the humanities and social sciences, and 240,000 won for scholars in natural and mechanic sciences, per semester.
  • Relocation (Settlement) Allowance : 200,000 won upon arrival
  • Language Training Fee: Full coverage
  • Tuition: All admission fees are waived by the host institution (university). The tuition is paid by NIIED.
  • Dissertation Printing Costs: Between 500,000 and 800,000 won, depending on the actual costs.
  • Medical Insurance: 20,000 won per month will be provided (limited coverage).
  • Special funding for scholars who are proficient in the Korean language (TOPIK Level 5 or 6): 100,000 won per month (commencing from the degree program)

Make sure to check that your country is eligible and take note of the number of scholarships allotted in its quota.

 

  1. DAAD Scholarship Program
  • The primary objective of this scholarship program is to promote the development of university teaching staff in universities.
  • In addition, these scholarships aid in building capacity for staff in the public sector through postgraduate training in selected institutions.
  • The value of this scholarship comprises of university fees, research allowance, monthly stipend, travel allowance (where applicable), and health insurance.
  • There is also the possibility of a short study trip to Germany with the period of the scholarship.
  1. OFID Masters Scholarships
  • OFID (OPEC Fund for International Development) sponsors highly motivated young students from developing countries who are unable to raise funds for their graduate studies.
  • Applicants are required to obtain admission to a master’s program in a relevant field of development before applying for this scholarship.
  • This great scholarship applies to courses offered by any recognized university in the world.
  • The scholarship value amounts to US$50,000, comprising of tuition fees, a round-trip flight, health insurance, a relocation grant, and a monthly allowance.
  • OFID pays tuition fees directly to the institution where the recipient is enrolled.
  1. New Zealand Development Scholarships
  • New Zealand Development Scholarships give students from targeted countries the opportunity to pursue development-related studies.
  • These scholarships aim to give students the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills through study in specific subject areas that will be of benefit to their home country.
  • Recipients of this scholarship receive a full tuition scholarship, an air ticket for travel at the beginning and end of the scholarship, a fortnightly living allowance and an establishment allowance.
  • Partners of students are eligible for a work visa that allows them to live and work in New Zealand for the duration of the course.
  1. Australia Awards Scholarships
  • The Australian Development Scholarships, popularly known as Australia Awards, were set up to promote knowledge, education links and enduring ties between Australia and its neighbours.
  • The key aim of these scholarships is to identify and nurture leadership potential in individuals from developing countries.
  • Fields of study are targeted to address agreed priority human resource and development needs of recipient countries, in line with Australia’s bilateral aid program.
  • Benefits of this scholarship include tuition fees, an economy class flight to and from Australia, an annual stipend of AUD 30,000, OSHC and an establishment allowance of AUD 5,000.
  • Scholarship holders are required to return to their country of citizenship for two years after they have completed their studies to contribute to the development of their country.
  1. Graduate Scholarships in Finland
  • Finnish polytechnics and universities do not charge any tuition fees in their Bachelor’s and Master’s programs, and Doctoral level studies.
  • Finnish higher education institutions are small enough to operate functionally and effectively. They are all internationally oriented with special regional features, and you can choose between very different study environments ranging from larger urban campuses to close-to-nature campuses.
  • For an international student, Finland is both an exotic and a safe target country. Finnish society is networked and transparent, where education is always a top first priority
  • An excellent example of a Finnish institution is the University of Oulu, which targets academically talented international students. Students enrolled in this university for the 2-year International Master’s Programme receive a 100% tuition fee waiver, among other benefits.
  1. Swedish Institute Study Scholarships
  • This great scholarship targets highly qualified students who are interested in full-time Masters level studies in Sweden.
  • About 120 scholarships have been awarded for studies in Sweden since August 2012.
  • The scholarship covers tuition fees (paid directly to the Swedish University or University College by the Swedish Institute) and living expenses of up to SEK 9,000 per month.
  • Scholarship holders also receive a travel grant in connection with the scholarship. The travel grant is a given as a one-time payment of SEK 15,000.
  • Scholarship holders are also insured by the Swedish State Group Insurance and Personal Insurance Scheme against accident and illness. This insurance cover is valid for the entire scholarship period.
