Study in Austria – Cheap or Free Education

May 20 By Samuel Leave a Comment

  • The Austrian educational system offers a broad spectrum of educational opportunities for international students.
  • Austria’s social security system, economic stability, and hospitable citizens make it the ideal place to live and study.

Tuition Fees

  • Austrian citizens and students from the EU and EEA, or those who have Austrian or EU/EEA nationality do not pay tuition fees at public universities.
  • International students who are not from the above countries are obliged to pay tuition fees, an average of €1450 per year.
  • Students from developing countries may apply for a tuition fee exemption or a partial tuition fee refund, depending on the university where they choose to study.

Scholarships

  • Various opportunities exist for scholarships and funding for international students. The three main avenues through which one can get a scholarship are:
    • University and institutional scholarships, and tuition fee waivers from higher educational institutions
    • Scholarships offered by Austrian organizations and institutions given to international students depending on one’s country of origin and academic qualifications
