  • The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program aims to provide access to quality and inclusive education to young people from Sub-Saharan Africa.

Scholarship Overview

  • The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at Sciences Po aims to support 1,450 students and young professionals who demonstrate academic excellence, strong leadership potential, and a commitment to achieving change in Africa. However, these individuals face significant financial barriers that hinder their pursuit of higher education.
  • Successful applicants receive scholarships and financial aid throughout the two years of their Master’s program.
  • This program aims to give African students scholarships over the next ten years (2024-2034).

Am I Eligible to Apply?

To apply for this scholarship, you must:

  • hold citizenship in a country within Sub-Saharan Africa;
  • have completed or be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program at one of Sciences Po’s institutions of reference or have completed or are currently enrolled in a training foundation or mentoring program offered by a bridging program organization partnering with the MasterCard Foundation;
  • not already hold or be completing a Master’s degree;
  • be in genuine need of funding for your higher education;
  • show commitment to achieving change in Africa, particularly in the areas of public policy and major political, environmental, and societal transitions;
  • be under the age of 35 when you begin your Master’s program;
  • be applying for a two-year Master’s program at one of Sciences Po’s seven Graduate Schools.

How do I Apply – Next Steps

  • Before you are selected for the MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program, you must first be accepted into a Master’s program at one of the university’s seven Graduate Schools.
  • Application for the scholarship and your chosen master’s program is made via a single procedure and platform. The link to the platform is at the website indicated below.

Supporting Documents

  • All supporting documents required for international graduate admissions to Sciences Po.
  • Valid photo ID.
  • Proof of income demonstrating your financial circumstances: tax documents and/or income statements; scholarship certificates; or any other legal document attesting to your financial situation. You must submit at least one document with your application. 
  • Proof of current or past enrolment at one of Sciences Po’s institutions of reference
