Guideline for International Students Enrolled in Graduate Programs
Here is a Graduate Scholarship to study a Masters Degree in Korea. This would a great program to get into but depending on the country you are from and the quota they offer your chances of getting accepted will vary. You’ll also need to take and pass language courses.

What does the scholarship cover?
- Round-trip economy class airfare
- Monthly Allowance (900,000 won (KRW) per month)
- Research Allowance / Semester: 210,000 won for scholars in the field of humanities and social sciences; and 240,000 won for scholars in natural and mechanic sciences
- Relocation / Settlement Allowance: 200,000 won upon arrival
- Full coverage of language training fee
- Waived admission fee by the host university
- Tuition will be provided for by National Institute for International Education
- Dissertation Printing Costs: 500,000 ~ 800,000 won, depending on actual costs.
- Medical insurance (20,000 won per month will be provided – limited coverage).
- Additional 100,000 won for grantees with a good command of the Korean language (level 5 or higher in TOPIK)

Which countries are targeted?
- KGSP Allocations by respective Korean Embassies : 145 candidates (from 90 nations)
- Among the 145 candidates, 15 (from 10 nations) overseas Korean adoptees are included. Their quotas are allotted to 10 Korean embassies, and are separate from general candidate quotas.
- The basis for quota allocation lies in the mutual agreement between Korea and countries listed below.

Am I Eligible to Apply?
- Applicant and parents must hold foreign citizenship.
- Must be under 40 years of age as of September 1, 2012 (i.e. born after September 1, 1972).
- Must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree as of September 1st of the selection year.
- Applicants who have enrolled in or graduated from a university in Korea are not eligible. Specifically, applicants who have previously enrolled in or graduated from anundergraduate program, a master’s program, or a doctoral program in Korea cannot apply for this program.
- Must maintain a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.64 on a 4.0 scale, 2.80 on a 4.3 scale, 2.91 on a 4.5 scale, or grades/marks/score of 80% or higher from the previously attended institution.
- If the applicant does not satisfy the above GPA requirements, he/she will be ineligible to apply to this program.
