The University of Sydney takes great pleasure in announcing the Sydney Achievers International Scholarships for new international students commencing at the University in 2012.
These prestigious scholarships are aimed at attracting high achieving, academically meritorious, international students to enjoy the ‘Sydney experience’ at one of the finest institutions of higher education in the world.
Undergraduate International Scholarships
Benefits
- 30 scholarships of AUD$10,000 each per annum. NOTE – not a full scholarship, covers approx 1/3 of undergraduate costs according to the prospectus.
- available for a maximum of three years, (total value AUD$30,000) – most programs are longer than 3 years.
- Any Undergraduate program offered at the University of Sydney
Requirements for International Scholarships
To be considered for admission to an undergraduate program at the University of Sydney, you need to meet our minimum eligibility criteria. This will usually include:
- an acceptable secondary qualification from your high school studies (or at least one year of tertiary studies)
- meeting the English language requirements, and
- any special entry requirements.
You can find the grades required for some accepted secondary qualifications listed in academic requirements.
Application Procedure
No separate application for a scholarship is necessary. An Application for Admission to the University of Sydney in 2012 will constitute an application for a scholarship. All applications meeting the selection and eligibility criteria will be automatically considered.
Applicants must submit an application for admission and complete supporting documentation (academic and English language proficiency results) in time and receive a firm, unconditional offer from the University of Sydney by 30 April 2012 to be considered for a scholarship commencing Semester 2, 2012.
Selection Criteria
Selection will be based strictly:
- on academic merit as per the University’s admission requirements.
- based on actual results (academic and English language proficiency).
- Predicted/forecast results will not be considered.
Only applicants with firm, unconditional offers of admission will be considered.
Selection will be made by the University’s Scholarship Selection Committee, whose decision will be final. No appeals will be entertained.
Successful candidates will be informed in December 2011 (Semester 1, 2012) and June 2012 (Semester 2. 2012). Successful candidates applying through UAC will be informed in January 2012.

I completed my grade 12 in Namibia in 2009.I want to study dentistry in Canada but not sure if our education system is recognised in your country…we have ordinary and extended level and I did 4 of my subjects on higher level and the other two on ordinary level.I am also not certain if I should apply for the scholarships since I am not sure bout the requirements with relation to qualifications in my country..

Hi my name is Dawit Wondimeneh, am an African student studying for an Undergraduate Degree in Civil Engineering in Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia. I am doing my second year. I was wondering if there is any way I can get a loan or scholarship to fund my education. My father’s business which was funding my education closed down this summer due to the bad economic climate. I have not even paid my tuition fees for this academic year. I fear I will be kick out of my course soon despite having gotten the second highest mark on my course in the last academic year. Despite putting in many work hours in my part time job, I am still short of the amount needed for my tuition fees in this academic year.
