- Do you have a strong interest in raptors and birds? Are you committed to a career in conservation? If so, a Hawk Mountain Sanctuary internship offers an excellent hands-on training experience that strengthens your ability to contribute to conservation.
- Each year, Hawk Mountain Sanctuary offers 12-14 competitive Conservation Science internships to applicants from around the globe. Interns work closely in a mentor-student relationship with at least one senior staff member. Each intern completes an independent project and gains hands-on experience in one of three tracks; research, monitoring or environmental education.
- The new Acopian Center for Conservation Learning provides a model setting for work and study. A modest stipend and some travel assistance is typically available.

I’ve read thorououghly the scholarship requirements. I recognized the description vividly states that the committee is looking for students who will excel in the classroom as well as in the community. I feel that I am a strong candidate who will fit for this because of my community leadership and my academic success. I also feel that it is important to note that I have accomplished these feats while raising a family.
My extra-curricular activities provide me with numerous leadership opportunities and a chance to practice important skills and experience that are vital for my career goal so as to become a real Community Developer/Changing agent-on work in my Community/society/country as well as the World at large.
I am currently a mere Community Development Officer grade II enhancing the Community in various Villages and Wards to at least mutually participate in earning their development economically, socially and culturally while increasing awareness and tranquility in political aspects.
As a mere Community Developer, I represent the District Community Development Officer in all Community Development aspects , crosscutting issues and Management of various Projects and tasks. Not only that, but also I represent the man in directives, order and all other related matters related to Community Development to all community members of various Villages and Wards I organize in the District. All these are aimed at developing communities to a sought sustainable Community Development. This goes with sensitization and Empowering communities to a fully utilization of the available resources in sustainable manner. I provide direction and interpretations of various government and Donor’s policies and guidelines for our Community’s projects’ implementation as well as its evaluation. This year, for example, we organized a Community Development Practitioners Workshop where participants were empowered in a sense that when evaluation was taking place Community members were seen vividly participating fully in all the needed stages of community participation hence
a “WE FEELING” was also openly seen. From these endings, we reached to an extent of enhancing a mutual and Sustainable Community Development in our District.
Furthermore, I normally call and organize quarterly workshops/seminar/discussion/experience exchange(depending on the budget and capacity) about basic scientific Community Development principles and challenges we faced in the learm of connecting them with community cultural practice towards fully participation in Development activities with no exception of gender issues.
I also often speak to Development Agents (NGOs, CBOs, Individuals and the District government) as well as Volunteers hence organize home visits to People s who are Living with HIV/AIDS through this we successfully transfer the needed knowledge and experience to intended group of people while distributing foodstuffs, Cloths, Care for this people (education) and such activities to the arranged and unexpected residents especially in remote areas.
In the other hand, apart from the success I get from Community activities, I have also achieved success in academics. I have a 4.0 G.P.A. in my dual major Advanced Diploma/Higher education Course in Adult Education and Community Development
Frankly speaking………Receiving this scholarship and Sponsorship at once will reduce the burden of my student loans which I must pay to The Higher Education Student Loan Board (HESLB) of my country as a sum of money I borrowed to enhance and fulfill all of the requirements when I was pursuing a 3 years course of my Advanced Diploma. This will also allow me to continue with my work successfully while supporting my family.
Currently my family does not support itself successfully. They depend much on me for each and everything for a little salary I monthly get to cutter for their basic and felt needs like food staffs, cloths, education etc. Our family consists of 9 children. My father and Mother are 64 and 54 older. My 4 brothers and 2 sisters are poor and bad more are having only primary school education which is less marketable. They are small scale farmers with more than 4 children each which made a total of 20 grandchildren to my parents. One of my sister and brother are having 9 and 7 children plus my little young brothers Kibaba and Mahuli who are still schooling in secondary school level. They all depend on my little salary for just a support.
This situation will not allow me to go to school full-time, baring in mind that even the level of education I have was highly supported by the Higher Education Student Loan Board of my Country as to which I must pay my Loan returns. Trying to raise some contribution in my family while going to school will surely restrict my ambition of joining your University in full-time basis as expenses are so high than I can afford, but I am confident that my education will pay off in the long run. Until then, the All-College Honors Scholarship would greatly assist my financial and Academic Needs.
