FOR PRIMARY OR SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

Ambassadors Girls’ Scholarship Program (AGSP)

  • FAWE Uganda is the the national chapter of the pan-African organization of the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE). AGSP provides 1,261 scholarships to needy girls in secondary schools throughout the country. The scholars are chosen through a competitive application and selection process by a transparent committee that ranks and evaluates all applicants. Scholars are placed in day or boarding schools, as appropriate. AGSP scholars in Uganda receive a varying package of items, depending on the girls’ specific needs and situation. Items that might be included are school fees, uniforms, books and other school supplies.

Helping Youth Through Educational Scholarships (“HYTES”)

  • Provides educational scholarships to youth in developing countries to advance and grow themselves, contribute to their community and benefit society.

Kulika: Community Development and Education

  • Kulika has a long history of providing support to Ugandan students in higher education and in vocational training. Central to our aims is the desire to find and support students from disadvantaged backgrounds who despite their hardship have potential to contribute to the development of their country. In particular, we welcome applications from students living in the northern districts of Uganda.

Tumaini Scholarship for Vocational Training

  • Supports young people pursuing vocational training such as carpentry, tailoring, mechanics, masonry, etc. The goal of the program is to alleviate poverty by empowering youth and equipping them with the necessary skills to compete in the job market, reduce unemployment, and support their families.

Uganda Village Project

  • has recognized the need for scholarship funding in Uganda and throughout sub-Saharan Africa. In partnership with Alpha Childcare (ACCOD), we have identified orphans who will benefit particularly from scholarships. ACCOD’s community-based workers help provide the families, which are often headed by orphans or grannies, with bedding and home visit health care.
  • Our scholarship fund provided scholarships for secondary school to 99 orphans. We increased this number to 128! These scholarships include not only tuition, but also materials for students who need them. In this way, the scholarships provide a more complete coverage of costs to those living in poverty.

Visible Child Scholarship Program

  • An initiative that develops the leadership and life skill capacities of promising students in northern Uganda. Pioneered by Uganda’s Country Director Jolly Grace Okot, the program focuses on increased access to post-primary education, improved learning environments, and mentoring from local leaders. We have 662 scholarship students located throughout the Gulu, Amuru, and Pader districts. The program itself is currently the only one within Invisible Children that is managed and operated entirely by Ugandan nationals, a model IC is continually striving for in Uganda – empowering and supporting local leaders to create positive change in their own country.

Windle Trust International

  • Refugee girls are supported with funding developed by Mrs Ogata, the former head of UNHCR, and by USAID, in a special programme to ensure that at least some refugees girls have access to secondary education.
  • Under the Dutch Government programme 2000 Ugandan young people who have suffered at the hands of the LRA are being supported at secondary schools in Northern Uganda, and the schools are being strengthened to provide better educational provision to the whole community.

From Mirembe Nelly, Nadongo Mary, Ashaba Ronald Engemu, Pitus, Patrick, Mandela Ivan, Edwin Dlamini, Justine, Muheke Wellen, Nicholas, Musaga Michael, and from Moses.

I think I have written your names wrong and it should be Michael Musga and so on. So please forgive me.

But tell me, did any of you receive sponsorship so you continue with your education from putting these messages on the website? Are you in school now?

I would love to know. Very good wishes to you all.
