Australian Development Scholarship Program (ADS)

Ford Foundation International Fellowships Program (IFP)

KAAD Scholarship Program – Germany
- is addressed to post-graduates and to academics who already gained professional experience and who are interested in postgraduate studies (or research stays) in Germany. This program is administered by regional partner committees, staffed by university professors and church representatives. Normally documents are submitted to the committee of the applicant’s home country.
Robert McNamara/EADB Graduate Scholarship in Development Studies
- offers three scholarships each year to citizens who wish to pursue studies leading to a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Development Studies in a recognized institution of higher learning in East Africa. Each scholarship covers tuition fees, subsistence allowance, travel, and other related expenses. Successful applicants must study in an institution outside their country of origin.

POSTGRADUATE – FELLOWSHIPS
African Humanities Program (AHP)
- seeks to revitalize the humanities in Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda through fellowship competitions and meetings associated with them. The AHP is funded by the Carnegie Corporation of New York.
Julius Nyerere Master’s Scholarship
- The University of Edinburgh will offer a Scholarship to a student from Tanzania for postgraduate Master’s study in any subject offered by the University for the 2010-2011 academic session.
- The Julius Nyerere Scholarship was set up in 2009 in memory of Mwalimu Julius Nyerere who led Tanganyika to independence in 1961 and became the first prime minister and later president of Tanzania. Nyerere received a scholarship in 1949 to attend the University of Edinburgh where he obtained a Masters of Arts degree in Economics and History. He was the first Tanzanian to study at a British University and only the second to gain a University degree outside Africa.
- The Julius Nyerere Master’s Scholarship will cover the full overseas tuition fee, living costs of £10,000, and a return flight from Tanzania to the UK. In 2010-2011 the tuition fees and living costs will be covered by the University of Edinburgh, while the return flights will be covered by the Tanzania Edinburgh Community Association.
